Madeline Helene Merrill Mills, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great- g randmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefull y a t LDS Hospital surrounded by her family July 24, 2004. She was 88 yea rs o ld. Born in Salt Lake City to Albert and Zella Seely Merrill June 16 , 191 6, she was the fifth of seven children. She married Alanson Soper M ills D ecember 27, 1937 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple Sept ember 8 , 1955. Al and Madeline were lifelong sweethearts, enjoying 66 ye ars of t ogetherness in preparation for eternity. Grandma and Grandpa wer e insepar able and he will miss her dearly. Madeline was a devoted mother . She love d her children and grandchildren. She was so supportive she at tended ever y family event possible. She valued education and was an avi d learner. Sh e worked as a secretary in the University of Utah's Graduat e School of So cial Work for 16 years. She enjoyed entertaining. She trav eled the world . She was an accomplished seamstress and a willing volunte er. She had a p assion for genealogy and honored her pioneer ancestors. S he was a Daughte r of the Utah Pioneers. It is fitting that she left thi s life on the da y we honor them. She loved God and was always grateful f or life's blessin gs. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of L atter-day Saints a nd had a deep-felt faith that blessed her life and th e lives of her famil y. She served in many capacities and with Al worke d for nine years in th e Salt Lake Temple. Together they filled a missio n in New York City fro m 1979 to 1980. She was a great example to everyon e around her. Madelin e will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Al; t heir children and spou ses, David and Lana Mills, Lynda and Mark Simmons , Kathie and the late Da vid Olsen, Margaret and Ken Petersen, and John a nd Barbara Mills; 21 gran dchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and countles s other family and friends .
Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. We love you, Grandma!
