- Obituary:
James Dee Pack, age 22, of Orem passed away on Sunday, September 25, 19 9 4 at his home in Orem after a long and valiant struggle against cancer.
He was born on May 30, 1972 to Don W. and Carolyn Bird Pack in Provo . H e was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Teresa Ann Pack . He w as employed in the shop of Blaine Evans and Son Trucking Co., in S panis h Fork until his condition would no longer allow him to continue. J im lov ed his association with this firm and often said, "I wish I woul d get wel l enough to return to work there, they are so good to work for" .
Jim married his sweetheart, Monica Jo Lees in September of 1992, and th e y were blessed with a son in February of 1994. By this time Jim's condi ti on would not allow him to help his wife with their son very much. Hi s wif e cared for her sick husband and infant son with unequaled devotion . Ji m in turn did very little complaining, nor asked much in return. H e wa s a person with a gentle disposition.
Jim grew up on a fruit farm in Orem, where he loved to operate the tract o rs and enjoyed working on his car. He was an avid model car builder an d e njoyed this hobby a great deal. Jim's favorite time of the year was t he a nnual family outing to Lake Powell where he could explore what natur e ha s to offer. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife, Monica and their son, Skylar James Pack; h i s father and step-mother, Carole K. Johnson; half-brothers, Deon and Do na ld Spittler, of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; Rachel Ann Pack, of Roseville , C alif.; Steven Pack, of West Valley City; Dawn Rider of Orem; grandmot her , Vera B. Nielsen of Orem; uncles, aunts, and cousins on his mother' s an d father's side of the extended family.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 28, 1994, 11 a.m. a t t he Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 E. Center Street. Friends may call a t th e mortuary, Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m., or Wednesday morning, on e hou r prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
Jim's family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors a n d nurses of the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake, to the doctors and nurses o f t he Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, to the doctors and nurses o f th e Central Utah Medical Clinic, to Dr. Brian Tudor, his friend and ca rin g physician to the end, to his hospice nurse, Lee Aston, all of who m gav e their utmost in caring for Jim during this sickness. They also wi sh t o thank all of the wonderful and caring members of the Sunset Height s 7t h Ward and to Jim's neighbors for their support and love during thi s illn ess to each and every one of you. You are the true spirit of the L ord. Th e family requests in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Nationa l Cancer S ociety in the name of James Pack would be greatly appreciated.
