James Laskie was a gardener and became head gardener at Keithock Hous e i n Angus. The family then moved to Dundee about 1851. Started a busine ss a s 'Drysalter and Spice Merchant' in Ure Street, Dundee. Later move d to pr emises in Commercial Street Dundee as a 'Wholesale Grocer'. Thi s becam e a Family Business run by successive generations, that was wel l known an d successful, and lasted into the 1950s.
