- Obituary:
Shirlene Greenhalgh Black, 70, loving wife, mother, grandmother, siste r , and friend, passed away on New Year's Eve 2013 in Provo Utah. Her la s t days were of happy times spent with her loving family at her Kanosh h om e over the Christmas holiday.
Born to Valate Stott and James Lynn Greenhalgh in Meadow, Utah, she wa s r aised on a small farm with five sisters.
On December 21, 1963, she jumped at the chance to leave the small town f a rm life and married Richard Kimball Black in Meadow, Utah. They lived a n d raised three loving boys in West Jordan, Utah, for over thirty years , w here she gained many friends.
After working for many years as an executive secretary, raising three bo y s, and supporting her husband as a firefighter, she found her love an d pa ssion as a crafter. She would woodwork, toll paint, and create man y fanta stic items with her hands. She loved to decorate and create art f or the h ome. Mom also loved her animals, often having a dog and multipl e cats a t the same time.
In 2004, Shirlene and Richard built their dream home in Kanosh, Utah. Ka n osh became more than a home, and Shirlene found a family in the communi t y which she loved. She will be loved and missed.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Valate; father, Lynn; and siste r , Faye. She is survived by her husband, Richard; sons, Troy (Beth), Ker r y (Meghan), and Ryan (Radonna); grandchildren, Alyssa, Bracken, JT, Mad ie , Dallin, Calvin, Brayden, Skylie, and Cash; and sisters, Udine, Carol yn , Donna, and Raelynn.
A viewing will be held from 10:00-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 20 1 4 in the LDS Church in Kanosh, Utah. In case of inclement weather, serv ic es will be at the Kanosh LDS Church at the same times.
There will be a small graveside service to follow at 12:00 p.m. in t h e K a nosh Town Cemetery.
