- Obituary:
Delpha Almira Johnson was born May 25, 1921 in Chandler, Arizona to Lov i s a Cox and Sixtus Ellis Johnson. After her birth, her family moved t o va rious mining towns in Utah, and eventually settled in Hanksville, Ut ah. T here she lived from the age 7 to 17. At that time the family move d to the ir “old stomping grounds” in Henrieville. There she met David Qu ilter Ros e, and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple. Henrieville b ecame he r home for most of the remaining years of her life. She was th e mother o f fourteen children, thirteen of whom she raised to maturity . Her posteri ty includes 78 grandchildren, and well over 200 great and g reat-great-gra ndchildren.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Sa i nts and held various positions in her ward. She enjoyed working in th e na me extraction program, and participating in the Daughters of the Uta h Pio neers. She and her husband served for several years as ordinance wo rker s in the St. George Utah Temple.
She loved horses, and in her youth aspired to be a trick rider. She h a d a great love of reading and instilled that love in her children. Sh e es pecially loved to be surrounded by her children and grandchildren. T hey a ll enjoyed her stories and her quick wit.
She died on April 6, 2018 in Henrieville, Utah, just short of her 97th b i rthday. She was welcomed into heaven by her husband David, and her son s , Floyd, Verland, Max, and son-in-law Robb Adkins. She is survived by h e r children, Theron and Marilyn Rose; Millie and Dan Chidester; Milton a n d Brenda Rose; Artoise and Ken Platt; Collin and Laurie Rose; Collett e an d Clifford Mathews; Galen and Regina Rose; Kerry and Genifer Rose; J eann e and David Payne; Loreli Adkins; Daniel and Sarah Rose; and daughte rs-i n -law Kathy Rose, Lonna Rose, and Robin Rose.
Funeral services will be held on April 20, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the Cannon v ille Utah Ward chapel. Friends may call prior to the services, 10:30 A M - 12:30 PM, at the Cannonville church. Interment will be in the Henriev ill e Cemetery under the direction of Affordable Funeral Services in Ceda r Ci ty, Utah.
