Paul Stephen Ostler
1933 ~ 2019
Beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, and friend, Paul Steph e n Ostler, passed away Tuesday, 8 Jan 2019 at 85 after a struggle with A LS . Paul was born to LaVern (Steadman) and Stephen Ostler, and raised i n So uth Jordan. He spent his childhood outdoors and around farms, befor e serv ing in the Army and moving to Virginia. Following that, he returne d hom e and made a career at the Rio Grande Railroad. Upon retirement, h e spen t his summers farming with friends and family in Bluffdale. Beyon d farmin g, he enjoyed Westerns, trains, coins, tools, fishing, family, a nd trip s to Wendover. He easily made friends and was known to bring hi s homegrow n produce to many, from workers he met in Nevada to those at h is doctor' s office. Gardening kept him strong well into his 80s and, unt il his illn ess, he was still Mr. Fix-It for the family. He was a kind, h onorable ma n and was adored by all who knew him. He loved his family dea rly and the y feel the same about him. He is survived by his wife, Joan ( Hansen), dau ghter Robyn, grandsons Ben (Tori) and Clayton (Kristy), an d great-grandda ughter Aly. At Paul's request, there will be no service s held. In honor o f his memory, the family asks that everyone plant a to mato this spring an d reflect on how lucky we are to have people like Pau l in this world .
