  GREENE, WILLIAM, 2nd Governor of Rhode Island, b. in Warwick, RI, 16 Ma r ch 1695; d. in Providence, RI, 22 Feb 1758. For manyy years he held t h e office of clerk of the county court in Providence. He became Deputy- Go vernor of Rhode Island in 1740, and was Governor from 1743 till 1758.
