- Obituary:
Donece Ballif Spencer, 59, of Kaysville, passed away suddenly on Frida y , May 6, 2016. She was born to Don and LaNece Ballif on April 30, 195 7 i n Logan, Utah. She was the second of seven children.
Donece attended Viewmont High School before attending Weber State Colle g e where she obtained her Registered Nursing degree. She used her ski l l of caring for others as she accepted a Humanitarian Mission call to s er ve for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Bolivi a San ta Cruz Mission. She loved serving the Lord and the people of Boli via.
After serving her mission, she worked at Primary children’s Hospital a n d later as a labor and delivery nurse at Georgetown University Hospita l . It was while living near Washington D.C. she met the love of her lif e , Neil Orrin Spencer, in a young single adult ward. Neil was in medic a l school at George Washington University. They married on March 10, 19 8 4 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a faithful companion supporting Ne i l as he continued on with his education and obtained his medical degre e a nd completed his specialization.
They were blessed with five children, Trevor, Lindsay, Erynn, Megan an d B randon. Trevor and Lindsey passed away at birth and it was painful , bu t they were later blessed with Erynn, Megan and Brandon. She consid ere d them all miracles. She worked tirelessly to serve them and lived m an y ways through them, supporting their life ambitions and aspirations .
Donece was a quiet disciple of Christ, keenly aware of the needs of othe r s. She went about doing good, touching the lives of those around her t hr ough her incredible cooking skills, organizational ability, diligent f oll ow-up, and tireless service.
One of the highlights of her single adult life was attending the BYU Jer u salem Center. Of that experience she shared in testimony, “I am so gra te ful for the opportunity that I had to go to Israel. It was there tha t th e Savior, his life and mission became very real to me. I am so grate ful f or his love for me, that he would give his life for me personally t ha t I can again return to my Father in Heaven.” She remained faithful t o t hat testimony and has now returned to Him.
