- Obituary:
Noel Hales, 70, died on Dec.13, 2009, of natural causes. He was born Oc t . 15, 1939, to Leon and Gayle Bunderson Hales. He grew up in Nampa, gra du ating from Nampa High School in 1958. He served a mission for The Chur c h of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lima Peru, where he learne d t o speak Spanish, a skill he used frequently throughout his life. He g radu ated from Brigham Young University in 1966 with a business degree. W hil e on a summer break from BYU he met Hertha Ison, and they were marrie d i n the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 6, 1965. Upon graduation he an d He rtha returned to Nampa where he worked with his father and brother a t th e family owned furniture store. He and Hertha had four children, Tif fany , Jeron, Arianne and Ciarran. Hertha passed away in January 1990, le avin g him with three young children. In 1991 he rekindled a childhood ro manc e he had with Loretta Holladay Green, and they were married April 26 , 199 1. With the addition of Loretta in his life became the father to St eve Lo pez and Shawna Green Love. Noel retired from the furniture busines s in 19 96, and in 1998 he was elected as Canyon County Clerk, a job he l oved an d held until his retirement in January 2007. Noel was active in t he LDS c hurch and held many leadership positions including bishop and se cond coun selor in the Nampa Stake Presidency. Through his involvement i n church an d the service he performed, he was able to come to love man y people .
Noel is survived by his wife Loretta, his children Tiffany Vincent, Prov o , Utah, Jeron Hales, St. George, Utah, Arianne (Keith) Smith Wilsonvill e , Ore., Ciarran (Colin) Burch, Boise, Steve Lopez, Nampa, and Shawna (J er ry) Love, Parma. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one mo r e on the way. He was preceded in death by his wife Hertha, his parent s Le on and Gayle Hales, his mother and father-in-law, Joe and Lillian Ho llada y, father-in-law, Joseph Ison, and a sister, Janice Clark .
