- Obituary:
In loving memory of our husband, father, grandfather, Bennett Hal Bracke n , age 68, passed away April 26, 2006 after a long battle with Diabete s an d Heart Failure.
Ben was born July 8, 1937 in Angel's Camp, CA to Hal and Hazel Bracken . O n January 14, 1972 he married his sweetheart, Carolyn Amy Rothe in th e Sa lt Lake Temple. They lived their entire married life in American For k an d had a wonderful marriage for over 34 years .
He graduated from Dixie High School and Dixie Junior College. He continu e d his schooling at Brigham Young University and the University of Uta h i n the field of mechanical engineering. He was a volunteer for the Ame rica n Fork Ambulance Department where he met his sweetheart. Together th ey ha d three children. He had a love for the outdoors especially huntin g and f ishing and included his family in all he did. He enjoyed restorin g 1966-6 8 Ford Mustangs, had a passion for archery and was President o f the Timpa nogos Archery Club in the '80's. He helped start Sunset Rai l Inc. with hi s family and continued to work there until retirement in 1 995. Upon retir ement, he published his first book "Chase After the Wind" . At the time o f his death, he was working on the sequels .
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister. Survivors include h i s wife, son Kurt (Lorie) Bracken, daughter Kim (George) Adams, son Kri s ( Jennifer) Bracken and five grandchildren, all of American Fork, two b roth ers Spence (Candy) Bracken of American Fork and Merlyn (Elaine) Brac ken o f Elsinore.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 11 a.m. in t h e American Fork 3rd Ward Chapel, 165 N 350 W. A Viewing will be held Fr id ay evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E 100 N , Ame rican Fork and Saturday at the Church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior t o Servi ces.
Interment: American Fork City Cemetery.
