- Obituary:
Our dear wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Delia Annette Skinner , a b eautiful daughter of God, left his heavenly presence June 24th 1914 , beco ming the eldest child of Edwin I. and Mabel A. Street. Eight brot hers an d sisters followed: Lyle Street, Boyd Street, Faye Jorgensen, an d Reed S treet. Her passing was preceded by her parents, a sister Hele n Kolan, an d three brothers Leo, Don and Keith. Mother married our wond erful father , her cherished eternal companion, on September 17, 1934. T he marriage w as later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on November 14 , 1935.
Eight children joined this union, six daughters and two sons: Joyce Smi t h, Jean Watts, Brent Skinner, Gail Iund, and Joan Gilbert. Blaine Skin ne r, Shirley Havilla, and Colleen Brown departed early in their lives a n d how glorious their reunion must be. Forty-three grandchildren love d an d adored Grandma. Their love and tribute was greatly expressed by t hei r endless hours spent at her hospital bedside, keeping her room fille d t o capacity both day and night. Twenty-eight great-grandchildren als o ble ssed her life. She was blessed with a wonderful memory, knowing ea ch one 's name and birth date. Her physical impairment made it difficul t for he r to do many things, but her capacity for caring and loving coul d be uneq ualed. The smile on her face when we entered the room, express ed the jo y that she felt in her heart. Her tender embrace and the strok e of her h and describe the wonderful wife and mother of ours.
An eternal sweetheart stretched forth his hand,
With special love, honor and respect, this union began.
An eye single to God opened the way.
Their goal was to fulfill his plan and to obey.
An example of motherhood, with dad at her side,
A team to perfection, just an occasional bumpy ride.
Her homemaking skills were put into action.
The team was growing, no longer just a small fraction.
She as the team captain, the training began.
Cooking, sewing, and curling were all a part of the plan.
Her handsome referee stood at her side.
Cheering the loudest, the joy he felt he couldn't hide.
A natural beauty graced her face,
Matched by a selfless heart so full of grace.
Concern for her family, a constant care.
A yearning prayer, wishing that she could just be there.
Eternity so beautiful, lend to her exemplary life.
Our celestial mother, friend, and wife.
