- Obituary:
Phil Stanley Duncan, 63, died of cancer and returned to his heavenly ho m e on September 13, 2004. He was born in Meadow, Utah on September 26, 1 94 0, to James Stanley and Louie Barkdull Duncan. Phil attended Dixie Col leg e in 1958-59 where he was a starting running back on the football tea m. P hil married Shirlee Graf of Santa Clara in September 1960, later div orced . They had two sons; Darrin (Huddy) & Corey. They made their home i n La s Vegas, Nevada.
He became a very successful manager for Standard Oil and was offered a f r anchise which he accepted. He was the first person in the region to ow n m ore than one station at a time. Most of his stations were located dow ntow n, but he also owned a Chevron next to the Desert Inn Hotel on the s trip . Phil enjoyed trapshooting, golfing, boating, and hunting. He was t he fi rst president of the Las Vegas Trap Club.
He was preceded in death by his Father James Stanley Duncan.
Phil is survived by his mother Louie Duncan of St. George (formerly of L a s Vegas, Nevada and Meadow, Utah); two sisters, Joan (Jim) Brooks of L a s Vegas, and Kathryn (Max) Rose of St. George; a brother, Jim (Peggy) D un can of St. George; his two sons, Darrin (nick named Huddy) (Amalia) o f Ce dar City, Corey (Emily) Duncan of Las Vegas; and six grandchildren : Hudso n, Braxton, Baylee, Dallen, Cayden, and Ryan.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 18, 2004, at 11 a.m. , a t the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd., in St. George , Ut ah. A viewing will be held prior to services from 10-10:30 a.m., a t the m ortuary. Interment will be in the Meadow City Cemetery, Meadow, U tah, fol lowing services, under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary
