    Obituary:
    Louie B. Duncan St. George, UT - Louie B. Duncan, 90, passed away Septem b er 6, 2008, from causes incident to age. She was born January 29, 1918 , i n Meadow, Utah, to Howard and Minerva Barkdull. She married James Sta nle y Duncan March 25, 1937. The marriage was later solemnized in the Man ti U tah LDS Temple. They made their home in Meadow where they raised 4 c hildr en. In 1963, the family moved to Las Vegas and in later life return ed t o Utah to make their home in St. George.

    Louie had a strong testimony of the gospel and was an active member of T h e Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many calli ng s, including a full-time mission with her spouse. She dedicated many y ear s as an ordinance worker in the Las Vegas and St. George Temples.

    Louie was a wonderful homemaker. She loved to make quilts, garden and sp e nd time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a sweet, kin d a nd classy lady - the one with the gorgeous white hair.

    Louie was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Stan, and eldest son, Ph i l Stanley Duncan (1940-2004). She is survived by daughters, Joan (Jim ) Br ooks, of Las Vegas, NV; Kathryn (Max) Rose of St. George, UT; son, J ame s Kay (Peggy) Duncan of Washington, UT; 16 grandchildren and 32 great -gra ndchildren.

    Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 at the Met c alf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd, St. George, UT. Interment will b e i n the Meadow Cemetery later that day.

    Helen Barkdull Stevens 9/20/1919 ~ 9/5/2009 Helen Barkdull Stevens, 89 , q uietly passed from this life on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009. Born Sept. 2 0, 1 919 to Howard N. And Minerva Stringham Barkdull in Clearfield. Marri ed Ja y A. Stevens on December 22, 1941. They settled in Holden where the y rais ed their family of three children. Marriage solemnized in Provo Te mple. O ne of Helen's most outstanding attributes was her creativity. Lov ed worki ng on projects - sewing to clothe her family, making a float fo r 4th or 2 4th of July parades, Halloween costumes for her children and h erself, han douts for primary, quilting, sketching, and crocheting awar d winning afgh ans.

    Helen was active member of the LDS Church and her community. Loved bei n g a Den Mother and part of Relief Society Singing Mothers. Served man y ye ars as visiting teacher and visiting teacher supervisor, and many ye ars t eaching Primary. Especially enjoyed Sunbeam and Nursery children.

    Served as captain of East Millard Company Cedar Springs Camp of D.U.P. S p ecial affinity for elderly and many Christmases found her dressed as Sa nt a visiting those apt to spend much of the holiday season alone, othe r tim es of the year found her delivering homemade bread or on the teleph one wi shing someone a "Happy Birthday". She always was Ready to go o n a trip an ywhere. Much of her life was spent doing Genealogy. Spent our s on researc h, and readily shared with others. Numerous friends were mad e through res earch and corresponded with many of them for years. Often u nknown relativ es were directed to her for assistance and to find out th e "rest of the s tory" for their ancestry line that intersected hers.

    Survived by her children: Sandra (Bill) Green, Judy (Jeff) Jarvis, Nei l ( Ranae) Stevens; seven grandchildren: Jed, Clint, Chris (Rachel), Mark , Ro bin Green and Justin (Kristina), and Jessica Stevens; brother: Joe ( Toni ) Barkdull; sister: Julia (John) Jackson. Preceded in death by husba nd an d sisters: Leola, Louie and Lora. Special thanks to Dr. Wayne Brow n and s taff of Fillmore Hospital for love and care shared during the pas t years . Gratitude to Priest Quorum of Holden Ward. Services: Friday, Se pt. 11 , 2009, 12 noon at Holden LDS Ward Chapel.     Phil Stanley Duncan, 63, died of cancer and returned to his heavenly ho m e on September 13, 2004. He was born in Meadow, Utah on September 26, 1 94 0, to James Stanley and Louie Barkdull Duncan. Phil attended Dixie Col leg e in 1958-59 where he was a starting running back on the football tea m. P hil married Shirlee Graf of Santa Clara in September 1960, later div orced . They had two sons; Darrin (Huddy) & Corey. They made their home i n La s Vegas, Nevada.

    He became a very successful manager for Standard Oil and was offered a f r anchise which he accepted. He was the first person in the region to ow n m ore than one station at a time. Most of his stations were located dow ntow n, but he also owned a Chevron next to the Desert Inn Hotel on the s trip . Phil enjoyed trapshooting, golfing, boating, and hunting. He was t he fi rst president of the Las Vegas Trap Club.

    He was preceded in death by his Father James Stanley Duncan.

    Phil is survived by his mother Louie Duncan of St. George (formerly of L a s Vegas, Nevada and Meadow, Utah); two sisters, Joan (Jim) Brooks of L a s Vegas, and Kathryn (Max) Rose of St. George; a brother, Jim (Peggy) D un can of St. George; his two sons, Darrin (nick named Huddy) (Amalia) o f Ce dar City, Corey (Emily) Duncan of Las Vegas; and six grandchildren : Hudso n, Braxton, Baylee, Dallen, Cayden, and Ryan.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 18, 2004, at 11 a.m. , a t the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd., in St. George , Ut ah. A viewing will be held prior to services from 10-10:30 a.m., a t the m ortuary. Interment will be in the Meadow City Cemetery, Meadow, U tah, fol lowing services, under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary
