    Howard Maurice Ballif 1907 ~ 2008 Howard was born September 21, 1907 , i n Preston, Idaho to Barbara Paul and Louis Henry Ballif. He passed aw ay o n March 6, 2008, in Sandy, Utah. Howard was the youngest of nine chi ldren .

    He attended BYU and graduated from the University of Idaho, Magna Cum La u d. He served an LDS mission to Germany. He married Madge Peterson in 19 33 . He was the business manager of the Idaho Statesman newspaper in Bois e , Idaho for 26 years, and he was a CPA.

    After retirement, he and Madge served a mission for the LDS Church Build i ng Department in Sacramento, California and Montevideo, Uruguay. He ret ir ed from the LDS Church Finance Department.

    Always faithful to the LDS Church, he served nine years in the Bishopr i c and 17 years in the Stake Presidency of the Boise, Idaho Stake. He al s o was a temple ordinance worker in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

    He is survived by his children: H. Maurice (Pauline), Howard Barr (Rowen a ), Margot Moore (Larry), and John Paul (Donna), as well as 25 grandchil dr en, 53 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He wa s pre ceded in death by his wife, Madge, a grandson, Mark, and a great-gr andson , Tyler.

    A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 12th from 6-8 p.m. an d pri o r to the services on Thursday, March 13th, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Ser vi ces will follow at 11:00. All will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1 95 0 East 10600 South in Sandy, Utah.

    Howard married Madge Heppler Peterson on 21 Mar 1933 in Manti, Sanpete, Utah, United States. Madge (daughter of James Morten Peterson and Louisiana Carrie Heppler) was born on 21 Apr 1906 in Richfield, Sevier, Utah, United States; was christened on 1 Jul 1906 in Richfield, Sevier, Utah, United States; died on 30 Jan 1999 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States; was buried on 2 Feb 1999 in Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, Sandy, Salt Lake, Utah, United States.     Obituary:
    Sandy, Utah - H. Maurice (Maury) Ballif, husband, father, grandfather, b r other, uncle, friend, athlete, outdoorsman, passed away peacefully on S at urday, December 15. Maurice passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones . H e was 84 years old.

    Maury was born April 2, 1934, to Howard Maurice Ballif and Madge Peters o n Ballif in Boise, Idaho. He was the oldest of four children. He wa s a fa ithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . He serv ed in the Swiss Austria mission, where he developed a love of l anguages a nd culture.

    A self-taught musician, Maury could pick up almost any instrument and pl a y by ear.

    He was a graduate of Brigham Young University where he lettered in tenn i s -his lifelong sport. Maury also served in the United States Air Force .

    Maury married Pauline Richardson on January 25, 1963. They have six chil d ren. They served two service missions for the Church of Jesus Christ o f L atter-day Saints.

    He is survived by his wife Pauline, and children Heidi Walker (Nico), Me l inda Odencrantz (George), Scott (Amanda), Paul (Tina), Matt (Joni), And re a Martinez (Ray), 25 grandchildren, brothers John Paul (Donna-Deceased ) , Barr (Rowena), and sister Margot (Larry).

    He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Joanna, nephew Ma r k and niece Mimi.

    A public viewing will be held Friday, December 28, from 6:00-8:00 pm a t t he Cameo Park Ward, 8945 South 1700 East, Sandy, Utah. Saturday, Dece mbe r 29, the funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am at the sam e loca tion. A viewing will precede the services from 9:30-10:30 am. Inte rment w ill be at Benjamin Cemetery, 9000 South 3200 West, Benjamin, Uta h at 3: 0 0 pm.

    In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latt e r -day Saints Humanitarian Aid Fund or Huntsman’s Cancer Institute.
