- Obituary:
Lorin P. Childs, 60, passed away July 4, 2009 at his home in Hermiston , O regon after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born Februa ry 6 , 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of Donald A. and Lucille R. Ro e Child s. He attended Salt Lake City schools and graduated from West Hig h Schoo l in 1967. Served his country in the US Coast Guard from 1967-197 1. He sp ent many years installing garage doors for Crawford Door Compan y and Mona rch Door Company before starting his career with Union Pacifi c Railroad . After 20 years of service, he retired June 2, 2009. He enjoy ed severa l hobbies which included hunting, shooting, farming and raisin g animals.
Lorin leaves behind his wife of 23 years, Goldie Carter Childs; six chil d ren: Carter Lorin, Michelle Lee, Katie (Cody) Bunch, Kevin Burbidge, An ge la (Jayson) Hauser and Crystal (Danny) Fish; six grandchildren: Jordan , S ebastian "Boo", Ashlyn, Addison, Wryn, Reagan; two brothers; five sis ters . Preceded in death by his father and sister.
A special recognition and thanks to Hospice and the medical personnel w h o cared for him prior to his passing. Also special thanks to the Burn s Mo rtuary of Hermiston, Oregon.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at t h e Taylorsville 14th Ward, 1250 W. 4375 S. Viewings will be held Friday , J uly 10, 2009, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood R oa d and Saturday at the church, 9-9:45 a.m. Interment, Mt. Pleasant Ceme ter y, Mt. Pleasant, UT.
