Cottonwood Heights, UT—Elva Swallow Lindberg, 104, passed away on May 1 7 , 2021 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Jack Parad is e, who lovingly cared for her the past year and a half.
Elva was born January 21, 1917 in Meadow, Millard, Utah, the daughte r o f Charles Swallow and Isabella Dearden. She grew up in Meadow surroun de d by older siblings, their families, and many friends in this farmin g com munity where her father ran a mercantile store and post office. Fol lowin g in her mother's footsteps, Elva nurtured a colorful garden fille d wit h roses, peonies, iris, and other perennials and annuals.
Elva was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Sa i nts. After graduating from Millard High School, she served in the Easte r n States Mission where she met her future spouse. Elva Swallow marrie d Pa ul Franklin Lindberg on September 6, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. T ogeth er, they raised five children. They later served as a senior coupl e in th e Canada, Vancouver Mission.
She served in many church callings including Primary and Relief Societ y . Elva had a special love for children.
With her kindness and concern for others, Elva made friends easily and h e ld those friends close and dear for decades. In her years as a long-ti m e resident of Highland Cove Retirement Community, she welcomed new resi de nts and developed friendships lasting many years.
Her greatest love was her family to which she freely gave in so many way s . She loved her husband, Paul, who adored her. She loved her parents, s ib lings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and Paul's family . E lva, with the support of Paul, cared for two sisters with chronic ill ness es. Time spent with Elva left each child feeling loved, adored, an d value d. Elva appreciated the sacrifices and challenges of her ancestor s and sp ent many hours researching and documenting her family history an d attendi ng the temple.
Elva and Paul spent many days playing golf together and with friends. S h e made two "holes in one." Throughout her life, Elva enjoyed games an d pu tting together puzzles with family and friends.
Elva is survived by her five children: Paula Paradise (Jack) of Cottonwo o d Heights, Randy Lindberg (Susan) of Holladay, Kristine Hiller (Bruce) , L isa Lindberg of Taylorsville, Utah, and Karen Rasmussen (Carl) of Kin gwoo d, Texas; 23 grandchildren and 69 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: Spouse, Paul F, Lindberg. Parents, Charl e s and Isabella Swallow, Siblings: Thomas C. Swallow, Eliza E. Swallow , Iv a S. Bushnell, Laura S. Beckstrand, Noreen S. Labrum, O. Truman Swal low , Norma S. Reid, Donald D. Swallow, Myrtle Swallow, Nola S. Killam; a nd D aughter-in-law, Lane Caylor Lindberg.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM at t h e Holladay 2nd Ward, 2065 East 4675 South, Holladay, Utah. (Masks requi re d). Viewing will be from 10:00-10:45 AM. Interment will be at Wasatc h Law n Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah.
