- Obituary:
Orland Dean Gull 1924 ~ 2008 St. George, UT - After waiting nine years , O rland Dean Gull was reunited with his sweetheart Helen, on November 2 8, 2 008. Born August 30, 1924 in Hinckley, Millard, Utah to Irah Willia m Gul l and Reva Memmott. He married Helen Judd on December 24, 1943 in S pokane , Washington, and were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple on Febr uary 6 , 1960.
He served in the US Navy in World War II with an Honorable discharge . H e retired after 36 years of service from Mountain Bell and was a memb er o f the Kiwanis Club. Favorite pastimes were spent with family, huntin g, fi shing, camping, gardening and other outdoor activities.
He was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Sain t s and held many positions.
He is survived by his 11 children: Helene (Edward) Nelson, St. George, U T , Catherine (Randy) Holman of Sandy, UT, Richard Dean (Barbara) Gull, S t . George, UT, Pauline (David) Isom, West Jordan, UT, Kenneth Irah (Beck y ) Gull, St George, UT, Kristine (Jeffrey) Groat, Mountain Home, ID, Ste ve n Arma (Debra) Gull, Washington, UT, Michael Clarence, West Jordan, UT , M aidalyn Gull Starr, St. George, UT, Rochelle Gul l (Robert) Adamson , Gain esville, GA, DeWayne "D.J." (Alicia) Gull, Hurricane, UT; 52 grand childre n, and 79 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his half-si ster, Ma xine Bennett Branagan, West Jordan, UT, and half-brother, Ralp h Bennett , West Jordan, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents; hi s wife Hele n Judd; great-granddaughter Shaylee Nelson; and his brother A rden Gull.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at 11 a.m. , a t the St. George LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, 200 W. 500 N., St. George, UT . A vi sitation will be held Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m., at Metcalf Mortuary , 288 W . St. George Blvd., St. George, UT, and Wednesday, from 9:30-10:3 0 a.m. , at the chapel, prior to services. Interment will be in the St. G eorge C ity Cemetery, under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary 435-673-422 1. See M etcalf's website at www.metcalfmortuary.com for condolences.
