"Let me offer some primary sources (Bible records and Arnold's V R ) o n the inconsistency of who Barbara Rice, d/o Elnathan (Whipple) an d J ohn Rice married. This Barbara Rice was born April 24, 1706 in Warwic k (A rn old's VR) and marriedn Langford on May 11, 1727 in East Greenwic h , R I (Arnold's VR). Births of six of their children are recorded in E a s t Gre enwich, RI (Arnold's VR).
The Barbara Rice who married Benjamin Arnold was born March 18, 17 2 3 / 24 (Arnold Bible records copied 1936 by Josephine Keefer Short an d av ai la ble at the RI Historical Society). She was the daughter of Joh n Ric e, Jr. (1696-1746/7), tho John and Elnathan (Whipple) Rice, and Av i s Tib be tts (d. 1760), making her the niece of the first Barbara Ric e and stil l a Whipple descendant.
