    • Obituary:
      Opal Swallow Jones, age 88, peacefully passed away on Sunday, Septembe r 1 1, 2005. The oldest of five children, Opal was born December 21, 191 6 i n Meadow, Utah to Thomas Charles Swallow and Vanda Duncan. Married he r be loved husband of 53 years, A. Lynn Jones, November 28, 1938 in Sal t Lak e City, later solemnized in the Manti Temple July 12, 1963.

      Her generosity and love knew no bounds. Her sweet spirit will be dearl y m issed by all who knew her. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ o f Latt er-day Saints, Opal served with unwavering faith and a heart ful l of char ity. Most notable was her service in the Primary, serving eigh t years a s Primary President followed by eight years as Stake Primary Pr esident an d many more years as a teacher, dedicated visiting teacher, an d Relief So ciety President.

      She and Lynn served in the Massachusetts Boston Mission 1983-84. Prio r t o her mission, she worked as the manager of the Books and Stationar y Depa rtment at ZCMI Cottonwood.

      Opal's greatest mission however, and her life's work was her family. Alw a ys placing her family first, she devoted her life to her children and h e r beloved husband. Few couples ever know the bond of love and deep devo ti on that Opal and Lynn had for each other. Surely it was a glorious reu nio n.

      Opal is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Thera Ross; a n d brother, Chad Swallow. She is survived by her brother, Grover (Brooki e ) Swallow; sister, Shirley Gotchy; sister-in-law, Norma Swallow; Childr en , Gordon (Sharron) Jones, Murray, Utah; Mark (Karen) Jones, Murray, Ut ah ; Janice (Larry) Pehrson, Sandy, Utah; Fred (Linda) Jones, Holladay, U tah ; 21 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-gran dchi ldren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Septembe r 16 , 2005 at the Murray 3rd Ward, 160 E. 4600 South, Friends may call f rom 6 -8 p.m. Thursday at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State, and als o fro m 10-10:45 a.m. on Friday, prior to services at the church. Interme nt Mur ray City Cemetery.
