Reg a r d ing Eleazer's parents, Barbara writes: "As to the identity of Eleaz e r [ James' son], the 'Genealogy of Zachariah Rhodes' states that Delive ra nc e Rh odes was married 24th June, 1744, to Eleazer Whipple, of Warwi c k an d Smit hfield, Rhode Island, (James-Eleazer-John) who d. in Novemb er , 1760. The first Eleazer did have a son, ensign James, c. 1686/87, wh o i s buried with him in the Whipple-Mowry Lot in Lincoln. Date of death , acc ording to the RI Historical Cemeteries database, is 3 Oct 1731. whi pple.o rg has E nsign James married to Mary Williams. There are no childr en list ed. Mar y Williams married for a second time to John Rhodes. The y had a s on, named James, in 1734. Since Ensign James, her first husband , died i n 1731, the timing of this second marriage and the birth of Jame s is righ t. The source that Nelson Osgood Rhoades for the Eleazer-James- Eleazer- J ohn descendancy is Austin's Ancestral Dictionary. I will locat e the exac t place in Austin and get the citation."
