- Obituary:
On January 1, 2004 Maybelle Louise Balefske (Sisam) Steiner, 80, belove d mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away from complication s incident to Leukemia. She will be missed by so many that loved her. Sh e was born on January 23, 1923 in Magna, Utah to Carl August Balefske an d Alice Marie Armstrong. Maybelle graduated from South High School in 194 1 and worked most of her adult life while raising a family. She worked fo r the University of Utah with the Student Body Association and loved al l the many young people with whom she became acquainted. She worked for t he University of Utah 14 years and retired in 1987. She led many causes f or the Senior Citizens, and represented them in Washington. She was fun-l oving and friendly to all, and she initiated and participated in many soc ial events. She loved her association with the Senior Citizen Center an d she enjoyed all her family and friends. Her final commentary in her dia ry was, "I have really been blessed in so many ways and my reward is a wo nderful family and many many friends. Who could ask for more." She was p receded in death by her parents; two sisters; two brothers; a daughter, C aroline; and a grandson, Mike. She was blessed with five children, 28 gra ndchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Her apartment wall was adorned wi th may pictures of each family member, and she remembered them all durin g birthdays and Christmas. Many of her extended family members and friend s considered her their mother and dear friend. Survived by brother, Ceci l Balefske; sisters, Alice Calwell, Lura Jean Ludwig, Bette Bennett; fou r sons and daughters-in-law, Vern (Anne) Sisam, Glen (Debra) Sisam, Alvi n (Patty) Sisam and Mark (Laura) Steiner. Funeral services Tuesday, 12 no on at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where friends may ca ll 11-11:45 a.m. prior.
