Shannon E. Viestenz, 56, of West Fargo, died Thursday, August 22, 2019 , i n his home.
Shannon Ellery (Priewe) Viestenz was born September 27, 1962 in Dickinso n , ND to Clayton and Betty (Viestenz) Priewe. He grew up in Moorhead, M N , graduated from Moorhead High School, enlisted in the United States Ma ri ne Corps for 6 years, graduated from Moorhead Technical College wit h a de gree in Electronics, worked in Arizona. Shannon married Mara Neils on on D ecember 8, 1990. Mara was killed in an automobile accident in Jan uary o f 1991. Shannon spent many years at NDSU in the Mechanical Enginee ring De partment, a position he loved and called his real career.
He married Irina Sokolova in a family ceremony in Russia on November 2 5 , 2005 and a civil US ceremony in Fargo on January 14, 2006 where he we lc omed Irina's daughter Anya into his family. Shannon and Irina's son Ch arl es Danyl was born August 12, 2006.
Shannon is survived by his wife Irina; son: Charles Danyl; stepdaughte r : Anya (Andrew) Jones; father: Clayton (Kathy) Priewe; mother: Betty Pr ie we; brother Eric (Peri) Priewe; grandson: Alek Jones; mother and fathe r-i n-law: Lidia and Vladimir Sokolovo; many step-siblings, cousins, niec es , nephew, and extended Russian family and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his wife: Mara; grandparents: Charles and I n grid Viestenz; sister: Michelle; uncles Don and Ron.
Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2019, at All Saints Orthodox Ch u rch of Fargo. (2415 Broadway N.)
Visitation: 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2019, West Funeral Home, We s t Fargo, ND.
Burial: Arthur Cemetery, Arthur, ND
