Sandy, Utah - H. Maurice (Maury) Ballif, husband, father, grandfather, b r other, uncle, friend, athlete, outdoorsman, passed away peacefully on S at urday, December 15. Maurice passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones . H e was 84 years old.
Maury was born April 2, 1934, to Howard Maurice Ballif and Madge Peters o n Ballif in Boise, Idaho. He was the oldest of four children. He wa s a fa ithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . He serv ed in the Swiss Austria mission, where he developed a love of l anguages a nd culture.
A self-taught musician, Maury could pick up almost any instrument and pl a y by ear.
He was a graduate of Brigham Young University where he lettered in tenn i s -his lifelong sport. Maury also served in the United States Air Force .
Maury married Pauline Richardson on January 25, 1963. They have six chil d ren. They served two service missions for the Church of Jesus Christ o f L atter-day Saints.
He is survived by his wife Pauline, and children Heidi Walker (Nico), Me l inda Odencrantz (George), Scott (Amanda), Paul (Tina), Matt (Joni), And re a Martinez (Ray), 25 grandchildren, brothers John Paul (Donna-Deceased ) , Barr (Rowena), and sister Margot (Larry).
He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Joanna, nephew Ma r k and niece Mimi.
A public viewing will be held Friday, December 28, from 6:00-8:00 pm a t t he Cameo Park Ward, 8945 South 1700 East, Sandy, Utah. Saturday, Dece mbe r 29, the funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am at the sam e loca tion. A viewing will precede the services from 9:30-10:30 am. Inte rment w ill be at Benjamin Cemetery, 9000 South 3200 West, Benjamin, Uta h at 3: 0 0 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latt e r -day Saints Humanitarian Aid Fund or Huntsman’s Cancer Institute.
