- Obituary:
Michael Leroy Carter passed away on June 21, 2016 due to complications f r om surgery for pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his eternal swee th eart and his beloved children. He returned to the loving arms of his s on , Scott, and other family members in the peace of Heaven.
Mike was born March 28,1944 in Richfield, Utah to Harold and Evelyn Cart e r. Michael spent his Childhood moving around while his father served i n t he United States Air Force living in Utah, Texas, California and Wyom ing . With his father gone a lot he was always the older brother lookin g ou t for 5 younger siblings. He graduated from Folsom High School in Ma y o f 1962. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- da y Saints in 1964-1966 in the Great Lakes Mission and loved serving th e pe ople there. Mike graduated from BYU with both a Bachelors and Master ’s De gree.
While attending BYU he met "the one", a special girl from Boise, Idaho , V ickie Kowallis. They were married on March 23, 1967 in the Salt Lak e Temp le for time and all eternity. He lived the gospel and was currentl y servi ng in the Boise Temple and as High Priest Group Leader in his war d. Mik e always put his family first and stood by them especially in tria ls. H e continually, as the Savior, reached out to those around him wheth er i t be taking a neighbor Child to school, driving the missionaries o n thei r P-Day shopping, or bringing joy by putting on his "Red Suit". Wh ere eve r he and Vickie went they made friends and helped those in need . He is re tired from Hewlett Packard.
Mike is survived by his wife, Vickie; four children, Tamara Talbot (Davi d ), Heidi Redden (Jeremy), Gregory Carter (Rachel), Korbin Carter and h i s "golden children" Ellie and Zoe. He leaves behind his 5 grandchildre n w ho were the light of his life; Chanel Talbot, Daxton Carter, London T albo t, Alicia Carter, and Madeline Carter. Mike is also survived by sibl ings , Virgil Carter (Donna), Susan Robinson (Phil), Hal Carter, Marily n Leave ll (Mitch), and brother-in-law Douglas Kowallis (Kay).
Special thanks to Dr. Mulvihill and his staff at the Huntsman Cancer Cen t er for all they did for Mike as he stalwartly battled complications fr o m surgery never complaining. He was not just a patient to them but some on e along with Vickie they had grown to love. He will be forever in ou r hea rts and greatly missed by family and friends.
A viewing for family and friends will be held Sunday, June 26, 2016 fr o m 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel, Meridian. A f un eral service will be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at The C hur ch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4505 N Linder Rd. Meridian , ID . A viewing will also be held 1 hour prior to services. Burial wil l follo w at Dry Creek Cemetery.
