    • Obituary:
      Services for Minnie Maude Birks, 88, of Nampa, who died Tuesday, April 2 1 , at a Nampa nursing home, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Namp a 1 1th Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1500 Smith Ave . Ext . Bishop Ken Harward will officiate. Burial will follow at the Hill cres t Memorial Gardens, Caldwell, under the direction of the Alsip Funer al Ch apel, Nampa.

      Mrs. Birks was born June 6, 1898, at Provo, Utah, to Sarah Amanda Conr a d and John Quinney Whipple. In 1905 she moved with her family to Emmet t , where she was reared and educated. She married Orval Edwin Birks Mar c h 19, 1921, in Boise and their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LD S T emple in 1929. In 1925, they moved to Melba and then to Nampa in 1942 . Sh e was a longtime member of the LDS Church, having been involved in t he Na mpa 3rd Ward for many years. At the time of her death, she was a me mber o f the Nampa 11th Ward and of the Nampa RSVP .

      She is survived by five daughters, Ruby (Mrs. Oliver) Loberg and Rosel l a (Mrs. Roger) Moore, both of Nampa, Verda June (Mrs. Neal) Chess of Yu b a City, Calif., Della Marie (Mrs. Marcel) Bourse and Ila Fae (Mrs. Jay ) H enrie, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; five sons, Howard Birks of Nampa , Al bert Birks of West Valley City, Utah, Orval Jay Birks and George Boy d Bir ks, both of Salt Lake City, and Clarence Birks of Eureka, Calif.; e ight s isters, Tessie Clifford of Kuna, Bertha Kemble of Weiser, Kate Moo re of M eridian, Sylvia Walters of Woodburn, Ore., Jennie Stapplecamp o f Anaconda , Mont., Juanita Pierson of Clear Lake, Calif., Laura Goff o f Portland, O re., and Daisy Smith of Independence, Ore.; a brother, Geor ge Whipple o f Nampa; 43 grandchildren; and 75 great-grandchildren. She w as preceded i n death by her husband in 1982, four sisters, a granddaught er, a great-gr andson and three great-granddaughters.
