Mrs. Sarah Jane Allen Rowe, 80, pioneer resident of Idaho, died Saturd a y at a Pocatello hospital after a brief illness.
Born August 26, 1870, in Corinne, Utah, she was a daughter of George a n d Alice Grist Allen. Her parents brought her to the Marsh valley as a n in fant. Her father was the first school teacher in the district, and s he re ceived her early education under him at Garden Creek, now Robin.
She was married to Benjamin Turner Rowe, November 28, 1888, in Malad Cit y . They homesteaded in Marsh valley and were believed to be the first pe rs ons to file formally on their "squatter's rights" there. Mrs. Rowe die d A ugust 10, 1950.
Mrs. Rowe made her home in McCammon since moving there in 1935. She spe n t the last three months in Pocatello with her children.
A member of the LDS church, she was active in the McCammon LDS ward Reli e f Society and the Sacajawea post, Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Survivors include three sons, Mark G. Rowe, Victor; DeLos Rowe, Bellingh a m, Wash., and Paul W. Rowe, Pocatello; five daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Dav i s and Mrs. Alice Lonergan, Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Priscilla Anderson, Vi ct or; Mrs. Elicia Towsley and Mrs. Willametta Rufenacht, Pocatello; 29 g ran dchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Knapp Allen, Salt La ke C ity, and Ernest Allen, Pocatello; and a sister, Mrs. Helen Plummer , Berke ley, Calif.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the McCammon hi g h school. Bishop Joseph Morris of the McCammon LDS ward will officiate . F riends may call Monday at the Arthus W. Hall mortuary chapel and Tues da y after 1 p.m. in the McCammon high school. Burial will be in the McCa mmo n cemetery.
