- Obituary:
Ross LaMar Smith, 65, of Idaho Falls, died Sept. 5, 1999, at Columbia Ea s tern Idaho Regional Medical Center of a heart attack.
He was born Jan. 10, 1934, in Parker, Idaho, to Eva Lou Grover Brown a n d Hyrum Brown. He grew up and was educated in Chester and St. Anthony . H e served with the U.S. Army for 221/2 years, including the Vietnam Wa r wi th the 116th Engineers Battalion. He was overseas before he was 18 y ears , and had also served tours of duty in Korea and Japan.
On May 6, 1977, he married Jennet Rawson in Evanston, Wyo. She died Fe b . 24, 1994. He had lived in Idaho Falls for the past 23 years, and work e d as the boiler operator at Idahoan Foods from 1977 through 1996.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and he loved picking huckleberri e s and spending time with his miniature Doberman, Missy. He was the bes t d addy in the world to all his girls and his grandchildren: LaRae, Tyle r, C assie, James Ross and Daniel.
Survivors include three daughters, Lynette (Patrick) Brown of Wilbur, Wa s h., Sandy Winger of Coltman, Idaho, and Paula (James) Williams of Idah o F alls; two brothers, Ernest (Verlene) Grover of Roy, Utah, and Lloyd ( Lara ine) Smith of Helena, Mont.; two sisters, Jean (Earl) Siddoway of Te ton , Idaho, and LuRae (Gene) Davids of Ammon, Idaho; and five grandchild ren . He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Fielding Memorial Pa r k in Idaho Falls, with military rites performed by the Bonneville Coun t y Veterans Team. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 7 t o 8: 30 p.m. at Coltrin Colonial Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls . (Th e Post Register)
