- Obituary:
Memorial service for James K. Buell, a Portland attorney, will be at Sun s et Hills Mausoleum. Mr. Buell died Monday at his cabin in Brightwood . H e was 68.
Born in Seattle, he lived in Portland most of his life. He was a gradua t e of Lincoln High School and the University of Oregon. He attended th e Un iversity of Oregon Law School and then entered the U.S. Navy, comple tin g services as an officer during World War II, with the firm of Griffi th , Phillips & Couglin. For many years, he and his firm represented Port lan d General Electric Co. and Portland Traction Co., a streetcar company .
He was a member of the Multnomah Athletic Club; the Arlington Club; th e O regon State Bar; the Multnomah County Bar Association; the American B ar A ssociation; Beta Theta Pi; and Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie L. of Lake Oswego; son, James K. Jr . o f Portland; daughters, Kathleen Buell-Davis, Sally Anne , and Lisa, a ll o f Portland; stepson, Fred M. Davidson of Las Vegas, Nev.; stepmother , Reb ecca Ireland of Portland; and one granddaughter.
