  Email received from Suzanne Beck. Sidney was born July 8th 1814. Sidney travelled to Wellington New Zeala n d and married Mary Sykes in 1837. Sidney became a well-known Wellington ia n and built Christ Church in Taita. Www.christ-church.org.nz" Sidney arrived in Wellington New Zealand on the "GEORGE FYFE" on Novemb e r 7th 1842. The ships record states he was a joiner. He was the success fu l tender for the construction of this church which he Completed in lat e 1 853, the first service was held on 1-1-1854. It was originally buil t with out nails but a fire in 1989 means some of the building has been r eplaced . Sidney was 27 years old when he arrived and with him was his wife Mary a g ed 24 and two of his children, Susan aged 2 years and George Henry an i nf ant. Sidney is buried in plot 10 with his wife Mary.
