    Obituary:

    Clyde Kunz, 77, passed from this life into the arms of his Heavenly Fath e r on June 29, 2021 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was b or n September 25, 1943, in Los Angeles, CA to Kenneth Keith Kunz and Lau r a Jackson Kunz, where his father was serving as a U.S. Army Soldier i n Wo rld War II. Following the War, the family returned to Salt Lake City , whe re Clyde was raised with 8 younger siblings; Keith, Dwight, Callee n (Mart indale), Garth, Janna, Brenda (Canevari), Lorraine (Davis) and Ma rnae (Ha mmond). He grew up in the Salt Lake Valley and attended the LD S 10th Ward , serving as Ward Organist at the age of 17.

    Always a leader, Clyde was elected student body president of Bryant Jr . H igh, and graduated with honors from East High School in 1961. He fulf ille d his military obligation in the Utah National Guard, playing frenc h hor n in the 23rd Army Band.

    In 1962, Clyde was called as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Chri s t of Latter-day Saints and served in the West German Mission for 2 ½ ye ar s. In the summer of 1967, Clyde met the love of his life, Claudia Burt on . They were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Templ e o n December 15, 1967. Thereafter, they were joined by four sons an d a daug hter; Brandon, Ryan, Jennifer, Justin and Jared.

    After earning his BS degree in Accounting and an MBA from the Universi t y of Utah, in 1969, Clyde joined the IBM Corporation and began his care e r in Idaho. Then, with promotions, he took his family to Atlanta, Georg ia , Denver, Colorado, and finally, Bountiful, Utah. In 1985, Clyde becam e V ice President of Sales and Marketing at Integrated Systems Engineerin g i n Logan, Utah. In 1988, Clyde joined the Harris Corporation as a Seni or A ccount Manager in Salt Lake City, and was later transferred to Seatt le, W ashington, as a Senior Accounts Manager for the Boeing account, an d the n Regional Manager for a division of the Harris Corporation, Concur rent C omputer Corporation. In 2006, Clyde and Claudia returned to Utah a nd sett led in West Jordan, where Clyde entered the health insurance indu stry, pr imarily working with Medicare recipients. He worked in that fiel d until 2 021, building his own business and serving over 900 clients.

    Clyde has been a faithful follower of Jesus Christ throughout his life , a nd has served in many church callings, from Scoutmaster to Bishop. Bu t hi s most important and successful callings have been as a husband, fat her a nd grandfather, setting an example of love, faith, generosity and s ervic e for his posterity.

    Clyde is survived by Claudia Burton Kunz, his wife of 53 years, his chil d ren, Brandon (Rebecca), Ryan (Kim), Jennifer Hoisington (Matt), Justi n (H eidi) and Jared (Holly). He is preceded in death by his parents an d his b rother Garth. He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren (Jordan , Audrey , Allison, Ashley, Joshua, Ethan, Sydney, Lauren, Caleb, Isabell a, Elliot , Bryson, Olivia, Eliza, Abbey, Braden and Tanner) who look t o him as a l oving example of a life well-lived. We will all miss him!

    Funeral services in celebration of his life will be held at 11 am on Fri d ay, July 2, 2021 at the Westland 1st Ward Building at 7645 South 3200 W es t, West Jordan, Utah. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 1, 202 1 , from 6:00 to 8:00 in the evening at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 100 7 W . South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), South Jordan, UT, and at the Wa rd B uilding one hour prior to the services.

    Interment will be in the Murray City Cemetery, 5600 S Vine Street.

    The family wishes to express their gratitude to the doctors and staf f a t the Jon Huntsman Cancer Center (South) and to the Intermountain Hos pic e nurses and doctors who have lovingly cared for Clyde.

    In lieu of flowers, Clyde’s family suggests that donations be made to t h e LDS Church Missionary Program or the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.

    Kenneth Keith Kunz (89) passed away October 16, 2012 in Salt Lake City . H e was born in Bern, Idaho October 24, 1922 to Alvin N. and Amy M. Kun z. H e married the love, joy, and inspiration of his life Laura Jackson o n Oct ober 5, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They recently celebrate d thei r 70th Wedding Anniversary.

    Ken graduated in 1940 from Bear Lake High School, Montpelier, Idaho. H e a ttended USU, Logan, Utah. Ken spent three years working for Lockhee d in L os Angeles, California. He served in the US Army during WWII, the n worke d for the V.A. in Salt Lake.

    A self-studied professional he worked as a draftsman in several local ar c hitectural firms for 14 years. He passed the Utah State Architect Exa m be coming a Licensed Professional Architect in 1961. He was privilege d to se rve for nearly 27 years as a Staff Architect and Administrator fo r The Ch urch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The first five year s were as N orthwest Area Architect. The next 22 years were spent in th e Temples an d Special Projects Division. He worked on projects throughou t the world , retiring in 1987.

    He is survived by his wife, Laura, his nine children, 53 grandchildren a n d 95 great-grandchildren. Sons: Clyde (Claudia), Keith (Katherine), Dwi gh t (Milly), Garth (Susanne); and Daughters: Calleen (Kim) Martindale, J ann a Kunz, Brenda (Lindsi) Canevari, Lorraine (Halston) Davis, Marnae (B ill ) Hammond.

    Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Foster M. & DeVirl A. (Bud ) K unz; and sister Merlyn K. Jensen.

    Ken has a strong testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ and His Gospel . H e spent his entire lifetime in dedicated service to the LDS Church. H e se rved as: Ward Financial Clerk, Scoutmaster, Bishop of the10th Ward i n th e Park Stake and Stake High Council member. He served in the Bonnevi lle S take Yale 1st Ward as Sunday School President, High Priest Group Le ader a nd Home teacher. He did family history work after his retirement.

    Kenneth loved the Lord, his wife, his family and his fellowmen. He appre c iated life and was privileged to experience the joy of hard work, servi c e and accomplishment. This legacy was given to his children. One of hi s g reat desires was that his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildre n, t heir wives and husbands would always be nice to each other.

    On Tuesday, October 23rd, a viewing will be held from 6:00 pm 8:00 p m a t Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, Murray, Utah. A funer al s ervice will be held on his 90th birthday, October 24, 2012 from 11:0 0 a m to 12:00 noon at the Bonneville Stake Center, 1535 E Bonneview Driv e (1 050 S), SLC, UT with a viewing prior to the service from 10:00-10:4 5 am . Interment will be in the Murray City Cemetery, 5600 S Vine Stree t (73 0 E), Murray, Utah.

    Laura Jackson Kunz, 92, passed away on September 12, 2014 in Salt Lake C i ty of causes incident to age.

    She was born in Salt Lake City on September 7, 1922 to Samuel Andrew a n d Annie Iretta Woolley Jackson. She was the eleventh of twelve children .

    Laura was raised in the Salt Lake Valley, graduating from East High Scho o l, and received her nurses' training at the LDS Hospital, University o f U tah Nursing Program in Salt Lake City.

    She married Kenneth K. Kunz on October 5, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temp l e. The officiator was Harold B. Lee. In 2012, Kenneth and Laura celebra te d their seventieth wedding anniversary together and Kenneth passed awa y s hortly thereafter. Together, they raised their family of nine childre n be ginning in Southern California. In 1944, they moved to Salt Lake Cit y, wh ere they lived in the Tenth Ward and then the Yale Ward.

    Laura was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da y S aints and held many teaching and leadership positions in the Relief S ocie ty and also the Cub Scout program. She served with great love and ki ndnes s.

    As she raised her nine children, there was always fresh baked bread an d c innamon rolls in the oven. Every fall, she would can peaches, pears , apri cots, and tomatoes by the bushel. She was an accomplished seamstre ss an d loved to quilt and sew temple clothing and quilts for friends an d famil y members.

    She was an active member of the International Society of Daughters of Ut a h Pioneers. She enjoyed participating in the ISDUP functions and was ho no red to have that be a part of her heritage.

    Laura leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, sacrifice, and love.

    Laura loved the Lord, her husband, and her family. She appreciated lif e a nd was privileged to experience the joy of hard work and accomplishme nt . She gave each of her children the gift of music as well as teachin g the m to value education. Her legacy has been given to her children, gr andchi ldren, and great-grandchildren. She instilled in their souls the i mportan ce of the words 'Carry On.'

    We honor and love you cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmo t her, and friend and we will Carry On.

    Laura is survived by her nine children, fifty-three grandchildren, and 1 0 9 great-grandchildren. Sons: Clyde (Claudia), Keith (Katherine), Dwigh t ( Milly), and Garth (Susanne); daughters: Calleen (Kim) Martindale, Jan na K unz, Brenda (Lindsi) Canevari, Lorraine (Halston) Davis, and Marna e (Bill ) Hammond; and sister: Esther (Earl) Wallace.

    On Friday, September 19, 2014, a viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p. m . at Jenkins Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street (100 East), Murra y . A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11: 0 0 a.m. in the Yale Ward Chapel, 1431 East Gilmer Drive, Salt Lake City , w ith a viewing prior to the services from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
    Interment will be in the Murray City Cemetery, 5490 South Vine Street (7 3 0 East), Murray.
