    • Obituary:
Clea Minerva Roylance Nelson, 89, peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on March 9, 2006, in Boise, Idaho. Born in Salem, Idaho on December 20, 1916, she was a cherished daughter of George Edmond Roylance and Mable Clair Valentine. A serious child and a worrier from birth, Clea was the oldest of nine children and lived on a farm. She learned her work ethic from her father and her mother, and learned how to make a meal out of nothing. Early in life, she dreamed of a future that was more than working in the fields and was thrilled to leave farm work and baby-tending behind to attend high school in Rexburg, Idaho. Clea loved school and excelled at it, graduating with honors from Boise High School in 1935. Clea met her future husband, Karl Giles Nelson, at a roller skating party. They married for time and all eternity on July 7, 1936, in the Logan Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their marriage lasted for 60 years, until the passing of her beloved companion in February of 1997. They were proud of their four children Richard Karl (Rena) Nelson, Steven Roylance (Madge) Nelson, Randall George (Jenny) Nelson, and Janet (Greg) Ekeroth; and adored their twenty grandchildren, and soon to include their fifty-seventh great-grandchild, and one great great-grandchild. A devout and committed member of her church, Clea served faithfully in numerous positions throughout her life. She was interested in and made friends with everyone, remembering names and family connections of even the most distant kind. Clea was a lifelong learner, and if her body had been as sharp to the end as was her mind, she would have lived for some time to come. Her final days were spent surrounded by family members who were able to express their abiding love for this great woman. She clung to life as long as she could until the pull of Heaven was too strong. Clea is survived by her two sons and a daughter; five sisters, Verla Flick, LuDeen Earl, Lola Cole, Norma Leavitt, Donna Killian (Dennis); two brothers, Bert Roylance (Zelma) and Jay Roylance (Elaine); along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Grace Pickerd and her husband (Karl); son (Richard); and three great-grandchildren. Our family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of the Family Practice Medical Center, the staff of the emergency workers and Cardiac Care of St. Alphonsus Hospital, and to the tender care of the staff workers from the Four Rivers Home Health and Hospice who attended to Clea in her last few weeks on earth. And, last but not least, thanks to Eric and Tracey Nelson, who provided a new home with needed facilities and tender love and care for their grandmother during the past two and a half months. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the Boise Idaho South Stake Center, 3200 Cassia. Friends may call to visit with the family on Friday, March 17, 2006, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Relyea Funeral Chapel, and from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at the church on Saturday prior to the services. Interment will follow at Cloverdale Cemetery.
