    • Obituary:
      Donna Haymore Taylor Aug 1, 1928 - July 25, 2014
Donna Haymore Taylor, a truly elect lady, died July 25, 2014 one week shy of her 86th birthday at her home as she desired.
Donna was born Aug. 1, 1928 the 6th of 9 children born to David Franklin Haymore and Emma Geneva Huish in Douglas, AZ. The gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was an everyday part of her upbringing as was the spirit of missionary work. She served her first LDS mission as a young woman in Mexico and Guatemala.

Being a wife and mother was her life's aspiration. She was introduced to James Calvin Taylor who wasn't intimidated when told she was very particular. Three weeks later they were engaged, and then married on Dec. 22, 1952 in the Mesa, AZ LDS Temple. They had 10 children together whom they taught to value family, hard work, education and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She served valiantly in many church callings and was deeply involved in family history. After her husband retired, they served three more missions together; at Nauvoo Restoration, as mission President s in Lancing, MI and a Family History mission in Omaha, NE.

The consummate homemaker, Donna was very skilled in the art of running a household and raising children. It was not in her nature to find fault with anyone but only to look for the good in everyone.

Donna's entire life was defined by discipleship, charity and service for her family, fellow man and her faith. She didn't like attention and never sought the spotlight, but was quietly in the background always doing for others. Donna was a frugal and resourceful woman whose mantra was: Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without!

She was often heard to say, "I have had a good life. I can't image heaven being any better than I have it right here." It was only towards the very end of her life, while enduring the effects of old age, that she changed her mind and decided she'd like to find out. She was anxious and ready to return home to her Father in Heaven and loved ones there.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Joanne, son Craig and grandson, Taylor John (TJ) Kennedy.
She is survived by her husband, James Calvin Taylor, children: Geneva Pearson (Ron), Vivian Wayment (Don), (Janice Taylor), ShirLene Kennedy (Gordon), Arthur (Cheryl), Calvin (Carolyn), Carolyn Taylor (Craig Chambers), Evan (Julie), and William (Stephanie). Her posterity is her greatest treasure with over 40 grandchildren and dozens of great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 1, 2014 from 6-8p.m at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 East Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) Funeral services will be held, Saturday, August 2, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the LDS church, 2925 E. Bengal Blvd. with a visitation from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to service. Interment Mountain View Memorial Estates.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that donations be made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund at www.ldsphilanthropies.org/missionary or LDS Philanthropies, 15 E. South Temple, 2nd Floor East, Salt Lake City, UT 84150, 801-240-5567.
